covid-19 information

updated 5/27/20

First and foremost, we want to thank our community for rallying behind small businesses and aiding in their success throughout this pandemic. In the last 10 weeks, we have all experienced great losses and our hearts are with our entire community. As things slowly reopen, we are all doing our best to adjust to a new normal and attempting to return to our daily lives as we did before. We know that there is still a mountain of doubt and uncertainty to overcome, but are hopeful that our new procedures and protocols will give a small amount of reassurance to our customers. We will continue to do our best at supporting our community, local farmers, local purveyors, and small businesses, while keeping their well being as our top priority. We’ve modeled our newly implemented policies to mirror publications distributed by CalOSHA and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) on how businesses can safely operate/reopen. Our safety and management team will continue to update our staff as COVID-19 evolves and new information becomes available. If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to our office at (916) 446-8918. We ask that you contact our office if you encounter a Produce Express employee not following the protocols outlined in this information.

delivery expectations

All of our drivers have been given specific instructions to follow when visiting our customers and entering their facilities. Our management has outlined the following procedures for delivery drivers:

  • The CDPH and CalOSHA have recommended all vendors to be temped and screened prior to entering a facility. To help alleviate an additional step, all of our drivers must be temped at the beginning of their shift. This will be documented on a card, time stamped, and worn visibly by the driver.
  • Each driver is instructed to wear a face mask and gloves when delivering.
  • Each driver is instructed to sanitize their hands and change gloves regularly, as well as maintain proper care of face masks.

employee training

All of our employees have been trained on the following:

  • Information on COVID-19, preventing spread, and who is especially vulnerable.
  • Pre-shift temperature checks and protocol surrounding the policy. All employees are temped at the beginning of their shift.
  • The importance of not coming to work if employees have symptoms of COVID-19 (frequent cough, fever, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, recent loss of taste or smell, diarrhea). Employees have been instructed to not come to work if they have had close contact in the last 14 days with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • When to seek medical attention for COVID-19 symptoms.
  • The importance of hand washing and proper technique.
  • The importance of physical distancing, both at work and off-work time.
  • Proper use of cloth face covers including selection, donning, doffing, and sanitization.

warehouse changes

Our warehouse policies have been changed in the following manners:

  • Anyone entering the warehouse will have their temperature checked (outside delivery drivers, inspectors, contractors, etc.) and are required to wear a face mask and gloves.
  • All employees are required to wear gloves and a mask while in the warehouse.
  • Will call customers and outside truck drivers are being asked to wait in their vehicle.
  • Warehouse is sanitized daily with all high touch (frequently touched) areas being sanitized multiple times per day.
  • Daily sanitation of delivery vehicle cargo areas.
